Glen Urquhart Community Council

Community Councils were first established in Scotland following the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. Every local community in Scotland is entitled to petition their local authority to establish a community council in their area. Elections take place every four years, (the most recent was in November 2015). Anybody aged sixteen years and over, living in the community council area and on the electoral roll is entitled to stand for election.

Glen Urquhart Community Council is entitled to a total of nine members based on the size of the population in its area. Glen Urquhart Community Council covers around 230 sq.km, with a population of about 2077, approximately 1500 households. The area runs alongside Loch Ness, from Brackla Burn on the north to Alltsigh Burn on the south, going as far as Corrimony and Millness up the Glen.
